Faith vs. Fear

Choosing Hope "That ye may know that ye must all stand before the judgment-seat of Christ, yea, every soul who belongs to the whole human family of Adam; and ye must stand to be judged of your works, whether they be good or evil; And also that ye may believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, " - Mormon 3:20-21 As we near the end of the Book of Mormon, the Nephites begin to descend into wickedness that eventually leads to their final destruction. Their military leader, Mormon, was practically the only righteous person left in the entire civilization. As the people turned away from God, they became more susceptible to their enemies. For the first time, the Nephites retreated from the Lamanites due to fear (Mormon 2:3). They did not have faith in God or his gospel anymore. While the entire Nephite civilization was dwindling in fear, Mormon displayed extreme faith in difficult circumstances. Why I'm Serving a Mission

Preaching the Gospel of Christ "Now this is the commandment: Repent, all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me and be baptized in my name, that ye may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that ye may stand spotless before me at the last day.  Verily, verily, I say unto you, this is my gospel;" - 3 Nephi 27:20-21 Last Friday I got a packet in the mail that I've been waiting for for more or less than 18 years. After recently filling out my application, I got the letter that would tell me where I will serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I found out that I will be spending two years, starting July 1st, in Rancagua, Chile to preach the gospel of Christ and give service. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, and I know that Chile is where I am supposed to go. But that's not to say I don't have any apprehension. I'll be leaving the US for the first time, and leaving it for two straight years. I&#

The Sacrament

Coming unto Christ "And this shall ye do in remembrance of my body, which I have shown unto you. And it shall be a testimony unto the Father that ye do always remember me. And if ye do always remember me ye shall have my Spirit to be with you.  And this shall ye always do to those who repent and are baptized in my name; and ye shall do it in remembrance of my blood, which I have shed for you, that ye may witness unto the Father that ye do always remember me. And if ye do always remember me ye shall have my Spirit to be with you." - 3 Nephi 18:7,11  One of the central practices of the Mormon faith is taking the sacrament each week. This involves eating a small piece of bread and cup of water that symbolize Christ's body and blood. The sacrament is the most important part of church each week, and helps us come closer to Christ. The word "sacrament" literally means "to become holy." When Christ visited the Nephites, he administered the sacrament twi

Pathway to Perfection

Blessed are the... "Yea, blessed are the poor in spirit who come unto me, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. And again, blessed are all they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. And blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost. And blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. And blessed are all the pure in heart, for they shall see God. And blessed are all the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God. And blessed are all they who are persecuted for my name’s sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." - 3 Nephi 12:3-10 After Jesus Christ comes to the Nephites, he delivers a famous sermon to the people in the Temple. This sermon is very similar to the famous Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 5 of the New Testament, and includes the Beatitudes found therein. This sermon has many powerful messages from the Savio
