Summer 2011

It's summer!! The time of year every kid dreams of and craves during the school year. But then it finally comes and it's not what you expected, right? Wrong. If your summer days are lackluster in comparison to your summer dreams then find some fun things to do. Here's a few ideas to get things popping:

  1. One great idea is to go to the Temple! Sure its in Orlando, but talk to your friends in other wards and see if they're going soon. If they are and they have room for one more, going with friends is a great opportunity to visit the Temple and have fun with friends during the ride.
  2. An obvious place to hang out is at your friends house. Invite over a couple of your best friends and even if you don't have something fun planned, its fun to just talk and hang out.
  3. If your looking to get ripped but still want to spend time with friends, then why not go to the gym with friends? They can be great motivation and you can have a good time while you're exercising.
  4.  The park is always fun to go to with friends. Grab a soccer ball or something like that and ride over to your neighborhood park. Parks with playgrounds are preferable. You can always find something to do there, one time I just sat with friends watching burrowing owls and we were all entertained!
  5. If you can't get out to spend time with your friends, Skype is always an option! On Skype you can see your friends face to face or at least hear them, all for free.
  6. Another a great opportunity to spend time with friends is while volunteering. I can guarantee you probably still need hours for high school, so why not grab some friends and volunteer at your local homeless shelter or food bank?
  7. To catch up on your favorite movie series or TV show, you could have a movie marathon with friends. While it does seem like a large waste of time, you can sit around with friends and have a few laughs while catching up on your shows.
  8. Pool parties seem unoriginal, but its always lots of fun to just swim and play around with friends in the pool. As a bonus, it cools you off from the hot summer heat. Don't forget the sunscreen!
  9. If you have a lot of friends interested in a common sport or game, you could host a tournament. While it seems a little far fetched, all you need to do is divide everyone into teams and set up a bracket, then play the games.
  10. Don't think so much about where you're going to hang out, but more about who its with. Spend time with good friends that keep your standards and you will always have fun!
