Where you want to be.

"Life is a journey, not a destination." -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Where do you want to be in life? Perhaps you picture a future with a spouse at your side and college degree in hand and children running around you before you head off to work in your spiffy Hyundai Elantra. Whatever you invision the future as, it becomes your goal to reach that dream. So what happens when you get to that dream. Is life over? Are you stuck in a complacent situation filled with your perfect ideals? Well, no not really. You see, whenever you reach your dream you're happy, but that's not enough. Maybe once you have kids now you have a dream for what their life will end up like. Perhaps you wish for them to remain faithful Church members and be placed in all Honors classes. After your Elantra starts to wear down, maybe you can dream for a new Hyundai Genesis. Its kind of summed up with this dialogue from "Tangled":
Rapunzel: I've been looking out of a window for eighteen years, dreaming about what I might feel like when those lights rise in the sky. What if it's not everything I dreamed it would be?
Flynn Rider: It will be.
Rapunzel: And what if it is? What do I do then?
Flynn Rider: Well, that's the good part I guess. You get to go find a new dream.

What I'm trying to say here is that life isn't about getting where you want to be and then stopping, its about getting where you want to be and going further. So to pull this all in another direction, life is about becoming a better person day by day as you work toward your dream. It's about progressing each day to the ultimate goal- being perfect "even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48) For inspiration towards this ultimate goal, I close with a quote from Gordon B. Hinckley:
"Shape up. I say that to myself constantly. Shape up. Stand a little taller. Be a little better, a little stronger, a little more thoughtful, a little humbler, a little more prayerful, that you may be worthy of the guidance of the Lord and of His wonderful blessings."
