24

So, how's the first 2 (or 3) weeks of school? Is 24 hours a day enough to fit in all your work, friends, hobbies, and sleep? Combinations of 12 hour school days (plus hours of homework, 5 hour sleep nights, and an abundance of other activities have been the norm for myself and most other Juniors at my school. (But maybe it's paying off, I corrected a common PSAT grammatical error just as I was reading that last sentence.) So with our 24 hours each day we have about 24 million different things we could participate in, I guess the biggest question is, what do we participate in? With the lack of any post for a few weeks you could probably guess my writing hands have been more focused on English assignments than blogging. Well let's run down a day's schedule. You wake up anywhere from 5-7 AM  and get ready for school. Perhaps if your Mormon you venture to Seminary for an hour or so in the morning. After all this school starts in the morning and the next 7 hours are booked. Then maybe you have after school activities, sports, laziness, etc. So by after school you have a big chunk of time until the end of the day. In this day and time we have achieved the pinnacle of procrastination. Multiple social networks, countless websites, and endless television getting around to something useful can actually be difficult.
To solve this conundrum, sit down and list out your top priorities. If you're religious it is important  to set aside some time each day for worship. If you're a varsity athlete, exercising each day is essential. Someone with a devotion to music will require practice daily. Find out say the top 3 things that are important to you and do those things each day. An overwhelming amount of work can make it easy neglect essential activities. Stressful days seem much longer, yet have much less time to do what we need. Set a schedule and stick to it. Do the things that need to get done without forgetting the things that matter most. It is hard, but you can make it through.
And on the bright side, only 36 weeks left of school!!
